Art in Medicine

Symposium 2027

September 30 - October 2, 2027

About

The Art in Medicine Symposium 2027 is designed to be a transformative three-day meeting in London, England that will merge the disciplines of art and medicine to inspire practicing medical doctors from September 30 - October 2, 2027.

You do NOT need to be a member of AiM to register.

Central to the symposium are keynote addresses and interactive sessions, including seminars in Narrative Medicine and improving visual intelligence through fine art. Narrative Medicine, a field of growing importance, emphasizes the power of storytelling in healthcare to deepen patient relationships and foster empathy. Visual intelligence is equally vital for successful medical practice, as keen observational skills enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient care

The symposium will also examine the growing relationship between artificial intelligence, medical innovation, and the humanities, considering how technological advances can complement, rather than replace, the distinctly human skills required for compassionate, patient-centred care.

Drawing upon London's rich artistic, cultural, scientific, and medical heritage, the symposium will bring together expertise across disciplines including world experts in William Shakespeare to examine how art can inform contemporary medicine and shape the future of medical education.

Through experiential learning, thoughtful dialogue, and engagement with works of art, the Art in Medicine Symposium 2027 aims to cultivate more observant, reflective, and compassionate physicians.

FACULTY MEMBERS and Lecturers: Dr. Nandini Gupta, Dr. Kristin Stasiowski, Dr. Maria Bucco, Dr. Anthony Errichetti, Dr. Margaret Chisolm, Ms. Emma Smith
